I was hoping this would eventually cross the pond, and it did.
We feared it would be a disaster. It isn't, though some of the historical facts are mangled. The women look pretty good, if far too thin to be real 17th c beauties; hair and clothes reasonably accurate, though they lack jewelry. As usual they put the men in clothes from later in the century. Come on, people. Petticoat breeches are fluffy, sure, but you've got to be a real man to rock them. And they were Real Men, even when they were gay.
They found very pretty men for both Louis XIV and his brother Philippe. But instead of his iconic thick curls, Louis has a long, loose wave that looks like limp sausage curls. Philippe is nice and complex, though I doubt he ever got into a knife fight over his clothing choices.
