I think when one considers the abysmal state of forensics & investigation at the time, the fact crime scenes were mobbed & trod all over,
Direct first hand evidence (the piece of apron was definitely from Catherine Edowes)
"The Juwes [sic] are the men that will not be blamed for nothing." was in the Rippers own hand for sure, & was scrubbed away to avoid offending sensibilities at Goulston Street ...
I think we can assume we may never know for sure.
Consider H H Holmes...a minimum of 27 up to 200 victims... look what he did & the trail he had to leave before getting caught... HH Holmes is also a weak, third tier suspect as Saucy Jack...

As for Ripper suspects, the over all list is somewhere north of 350 I think

As for my own favorite suspect;
Remember "The Juwes [sic] are the men that will not be blamed for nothing."
Start by throwing out everyone with an higher education...
I like Seweryn Klosowski the best, was a barber from a country (Poland) that had rough & low surgical knowledge in their barbers, later took the name of one of the victims (Chapman) & also later killed three of his wives... He has been thrown out of consideration for changing MO, but if YOU had got away with being JtR would you tip your hand by doing it again?
However based on the science of the art back then, we'll never know for sure...
