With the computer 5yrs. old with Me OS and factory equipment(some extra RAM though) this one is at it's max range when playing any computer games. The ones coming out nowadays almost guaranteed to need 'more power'.

The problem seems to be how a unit(cavalry/infantry) doesn't come to the aid of a nearby unit when it is under attack. Now if it is set to stand your ground, or one of the other limiting choices, I can see it happening but not when it is on 'all out attack' mode. The archers/skirmishers(mainly skirmishers) are what I like using as an early defensive unit behind walls. By the time the infantry or cavalry gets to the walls they are severely weakened. The archers will be mainly in towers(weakest unit early) and skirmishers on ground to behind wall.
Don't know about Rise of Nations as haven't played it, but need to get it for collection.

LOL!! I do that too. Refuse to accept surrender and try to wipe out all signs of the enemy. OF course the AI surrendering/conceding irritates me when you have it set on the game style for complete destruction of enemy.
