Hello Pete,

It's not 'just me', then smiling smiley

I, too, mourn the loss of the LP. I used to dream of owning a Linn-Sondek turntable and Leak Valve Amplifier. Wasn't to be, sadly.
Remember how one tested a HiFi's sound quality by playing Deep Purple's Dark Side of the Moon?

Whenever I get the chance I demonstrate to folks the difference between Vinyl and CD by playing first the CD recording of Morricone's On Earth As It Is In Heaven (from the OST The Mission), and then the Vinyl recording (of which I have two copies - one for the LP, the other just for the powerful cover). The difference rarely fails to astonish the listener, the sound quality of the latter recording is simply better all round.

I reckon CDs are the "Emperor's New Clothes" of the recording industry.

All is not lost, however. Vinyl LPs are making a comeback, albeit slowly and in - of all places - Japan.

Regards,

Alex
