It's very misleading to state that Mozart was responsible for the symbolic content in the Magic Flute. The person who wrote the Libretto: Emanuel Schikaneder commissioned Mozart, who set it to music. Schikaneder was a member of the same Lodge as Mozart at the time, so it's likely Mozart was at least sympathetic to the content of the LIbretto, but he didn't create the story, he set it to music.
