BBC television does have at least one saving grace - no in-program advertising.
I am totally fed up with the way commercial tv disrupts programmes with mindless adverts. We now get advert breaks only eight to nine minutes into a programme, and, more frustratingly and annoyingly, only eight to nine minutes from its end!!!
The other evening I was watching 'Law and Order. Criminal Intent' on Channel Five (a current favourite programme) and was dismayed to see adverts come on even before the programme's opening credits had finished!
I now record commercial tv programmes whenever possible, just to fast-forward the adverts.
Out of curiosity I checked-out one one-hour programme I'd recorded and found that it was actually only forty minutes long - the other twenty minutes being taken up by adverts.
BTW, I particularly hate, loathe and detest adverts for hair products - but then I am almost bald...
