Thanks for the Tech support link. There were a few programmes I wasn't aware of including the Trojan horse remover TDS-3 which seem to be thorough enough if not painfully slow. It didn't find any Trojans but it startled me by listing some suspicious file names. For instance this Mozilla file was unexpected.

user/firefox.setup 1.0.1.exe

Of course we don't fully agree with Tech support’s list and not everything is free, but if it works for them ...
