It is musically very interesting. She has an incredible voice, ranging from an almost-absolute purity of tone to a really "feisty" sounding contralto. The instruments enhance it. It made me want to learn Arabic, so I can more fully appreciate the lyrics!
There is some amazing music coming out of the Arab/Muslim world at the moment, much of it being recorded in Mali. I've been a fan of Ali Farka Toure for many years, and things got a tad broadened when a friend formed a band (Junglebean) for WOMAD a few years back, that mixed African and Middle Eastern music. Groups like
Tinirawen are, to my ears, absolutely fantastic. One CD I'm waiting for combines Malian music with another part of my somewhat eclectic tastes ("salsamuffin"):
