I've been looking for information on roosters as good luck symbols in France, and the origin of this. I found one link

on roosters as good luck symbols in Italy. This isn't exactly what I'm after.

Does anyone know about roosters as good luck symbols that is associated with France or French ideas? Does anyone know more about roosters' crowing driving off evil, as in Danse Macabre? I've always assumed that the crowing was a sign of daybreak and any connection to banishing evil was related to the sun driving off the literal darkness. Is there more to this?
