MTI has a bunch of open courses that can be viewed online.

One if them is a great undergraduate (introductory course)
about radiation, how it works, how it is measured, and in
undertstandable language is the open course, "Introduction
to Nuclear Engineering and Ionizing Radiation" at
[ocw.mit.edu] and [ocw.mit.edu] .

The initial lectures also provide background for understanding
radiometric dating.

Chernobyl: [ocw.mit.edu] and [ocw.mit.edu]

Other courses at [ocw.mit.edu]

Highly reccomended.
