Online museum collections are a great boon to Egyptologists. Yet, sometimes
using them can be time-consuming or tricky. To save all images of an object
from an online museum catalogue to your own computer for research or
teaching needs, you sometimes must open several tabs and click many links.
If you work with dozens of objects, which have multiple photos each (like
statues, coffins, or scarabs), you can spend much time clicking. To
streamline
this process, I made a bookmarklet for downloading object images from
major online museum collections, and would like to share it with colleagues
in case someone else may find it useful.

Egyptological Museum Downloader Bookmarklet is available through the
Egyptological Museum Search webpage
[static.egyptology.ru]

To use the bookmarklet, you have to drag the bookmarklet link from that
page to the bookmarks bar (favorites bar) in your browser, then load an
object page with images in an online museum catalogue and click the
bookmarklet on the bookmarks bar.

Supported museums are the British Museum, Boston Museum of
Fine Arts, Louvre, National Museum of Antiquities (Leiden), Petrie
Museum, Egyptian Museum (Turin), Royal Museums of Art and
History (Brussels), Manchester Museum, National Museums
Scotland (Edinburgh), and Bible and Orient Museum (Fribourg).
Partly supported (no download, just opening all images in new tabs)
are the Brooklyn Museum, Metropolitan Museum, and Oriental
Institute Museum (Chicago).
