Over the past year National Museums Scotland has been undertaking a
national review of ancient Egyptian collections in Scotland, supported by
the Esmée Fairbairn Collections Fund, delivered by the Museums Association.
The review is now complete and published online for all to access. It is the
largest and most detailed review yet of Egyptian collections in Scotland,
tracking around 14,000 objects from 25 organisations, spread across 50 sites
from the Borders to Orkney. It contains details of the archaeological sites,
excavations and donors represented in each collection, alongside images
of selected objects and contact details. It is hoped that it will providea
reference source for these Scottish collections and highlight areas for
potential future research.
