Speaker: John Wall
Speaker Bio: John Wall first became interested in Egypt because of the Tutankhamen exhibition in 1972 and has visited many times. He is a member of many societies and is a patron of the EES, SARS and the Friends of Nekhen. His specialist areas are the 20th dynasty and pyramids and has presented his work on both sides of the Atlantic
Talk Title: Sudan: Egypt’s Southern Neighbour
Talk Abstract: – The Sudan has an incredibly rich heritage but few visitors. It’s possible to visit world heritage sites and the only footprints in the sand are yours! The archaeology spans the prehistoric, Kerma, Pharaonic, Kushite, Meroitic, Christian, Islamic and British periods. The talk will provide a brief introduction to this, albeit with most attention paid to the pharaonic.

All talks are from 6.45-7.45pm. Question time is allocated after this time until 8pm. Although this is down to the preference of each individual speaker. Doors to the WMES talks opens from 6.15pm.
