Lecture by Prof. Emerita Larissa Bonfante
New York University
Professor Larissa Bonfante will lecture on "Human Sacrifice in the Etruscan World" at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, 14 October in the Nashville Parthenon. That the Etruscans, like all other ancient people, at one time practiced human sacrifice is proved by references in written sources and recent archaeological evidence. The lecture will survey the many representations of human sacrifice in Etruscan funerary art that eventually may have substituted for the actual practice.
The lecture is free and open to the public. A reception follows the talk. Please call the Parthenon at 862-8431 to reserve a seat.
