University of Pisa "Ancient Egyptian Writing in Context"
Summer School 2014 (7th July 2014 to 15th July 2014).
Summer school classes will be delivered in English.

The Department of Civiltà e Forme del Sapere at the University
of Pisa is pleased to announce the programme for the Summer
School 2014, «Ancient Egyptian Writing in Context, from
archaeology to hieratic and hieroglyphs».
The aim of the course is to enable its participants to read in
original script (hieratic and hieroglyphs) and understand both
literary and documentary texts. The intensive course will focus
on hieratic (elementary level), hieroglyphs ( intermediate level),
archaeological context of writings, epigraphy (basic elements).
The course is open to EU and non-EU applicants. Participants are
expected to have a basic knowledge of Middle Egyptian (language
and script).

The course will be delivered by scholars and experts of University
of Pisa and other international institutions; lectures will be
combined with practical sessions in museums.

Deadline for submission of applications extended to 10th May.
