<HTML>Hi Anthony,

The idea of a Buddha themepark struck me as a little odd as well! Then again Lashan is home to the largest carved Buddha in the world. Perhaps Mr Liang Simian hopes to cream off some of the existing tourist trade?

I tried in vain to find a website for Buddhaworld but did come across this interesting page which relates the mythology behind the statue. Though sad, the tale is worthy of deeper consideration.

Some idea of the scale of the Leshan Buddha can be gained here.
