Pakistan has limited choices in this situation.
The military regime itself has accused the Taleban of fomenting terrorism in Pakistan and has repeatedly provided lists of suspected terrorists said to be holed up in Afghanistan.
In any case, terrorism is also today Pakistan's number one problem since target killings of professionals and other public figures go on unabated.
Pakistan's policy needs to be guided, first and foremost, by its national interest that could now be at variance with the interests of the Taleban regime.
But the military regime must shed its 'go it alone' policy, and evolve a national consensus after consultation with the political forces.
Finally, Pakistan should also seek a quid pro quo from the US that provides it strategic political and economic space in the changed regional scenario. - Internews Features

The situation in Pakistan is not so black and white as some have alledged. Apparently, problems between Pakistan and the Taliban government have been fomenting for some time. Apparently, the Taliban government itself has been identified as sponsoring some terrorist activity within Pakistan itself!
