Literary sources depict Fiking women as tough cookies fully capable of dealing with their obstreperous menfolk but the realities of female anatomy and the physical demands of early medieval fighting mean that women capable of taking up sword and axe would be few and far between, and even fewer would be inclined to do so. The farthest I would go is to say that the idea wasn't unthinkable in Viking culture and there may have been a few women who did so.
