<HTML>Jason:
YOU have proven the point about having an agenda, by your own actions here.
Your statement:
"Mr. West has arrived with an agenda -- namely to sell massive numbers of books and forward his theories, thereby increasing his fame "
Is clearly an OPINION of why YOU think Mr. West goes about his affairs in the fashion he has chosen. This is not a fact. You, as far as I know, have not had privvy to the private thoughts of John Anthony West, yet you come to this board claiming you understand his motives.
Pretty bold statement.
Far more bold than Mr. West's asking that the geology of the erosion patterns be investigated more thoroughly.
Your agenda, to debunk the theory by debasing the presenter, is a classic case of an ad hominem attack... put forth by a person with an agenda. Congratulations on being our "living example" right here on the message board today.
Now, about John Anthony West...
John has been going back and forth to Egypt for 20 years. There are people who claim to be professional Egyptologists who have only made a handful of trips decades ago... do they trump Mr. West because their degree is in archaeology, and his isn't?
Remember, please...
the father of modern Egyptian archaeology was a surveyor... not an archaeologist.
I would put John Anthony West up against just about ANY person on this planet in a debate about minute details of Egyptology, sites, and mythology. I'll bet you he ranks in the top 1% in the world for knowledge on these topics.
And I'm not just trying to pander to the man... he has spent 20 years going back to the monuments again and again and again. Do you think just ANYBODY can get a major network television special here in the U.S. just by making outlandish claims?
Not really.
Networks don't like to look like fools. It's bad for the shareholder relations.
You, Jason, came here with a preconceived notion about why YOU would do what Mr. West does... not why HE does what he does.
There's a difference.
Thanks for providing the example for all of us.
