These in particular were drawn by the crews of the reed boats, made famous by Heyerdhal in Gobustan

They are believed to be rowlocks, dating from around 8000 years ago

Reed boats with oars, would require a stable point as a fulcrum, and of course, an item which could be unmounted from a dead boat and then reused on a new one would become associated with the rowers. So it seems to be their symbol. So much so, that it was applied to their grave markers. The circle would be where the oar was inserted and the cross shape the part which was lashed to the side of the boat.
Of course. I'm not suggesting that the Egyptians knew anything about boats on that level, or had any associations with water which would suggest "Life" to them. Because whenever I have suggested something on this forum before, I have been shouted down by people who know less about the subject than I do...
