She was considered a witch and a crazy woman by the locals when she first started... however her devotion to and protection of the lines began to win her some respect .... this grew into a hero worship as tourists began to visit the lines (and bring much needed monies into the area) and as her reputation grew world-wide... until she became known as Santa Maria.
Interestingly .... the trident may be a realtively modern addition to the site .... it's construction is not like the others...
