Why are we having this conversation? I saw this thread, had recently written an article that was relevant to it, and linked to it in case anyone was interested. For some reason, you appear to feel your toes were stepped on. Sorry about that. For the record, I'm well aware of how science works, have a PhD in archaeology, and a side interest in how the media distort science and promote misconceptions. Which is what happened here, with Ballard's full and unwise participation.
