I see that Robert Bauval is shouting from teh rooftops about the support of astrophysicist Chandra Wickramsinghe for the Orion Correlation Theory.
The respect shown to Chandra W.'s academic credentials (in astrophysics, NOT Archaeology or Ancient History) is sorely lacking when it comes to any credentialed ancient historians and Egyptologists (or anyone else) who challenge the ideas of RB, GH, or any of the alternative ilk. Rather, credentialed critics are dismissed, disparaged and abused as cretinous pedants by the entirely uncredentialed "alternative" novelists.
A test. What reaction, do you think Bauval would have had if Chandra W. disagreed with the OCT and published a criticism of it in a newspaper? Would he be shouting CW's eminence from the rooftops then? Inviting him along for the planned tour of Egypt?
To some, it might seem rather hypocritical to, on the one hand, roundly abuse academia in general and then, on the other, trumpet the credentials and professional eminence of any academic who happens to voice support.
Conclusion: "Alternative" authors are as selective in their presentation of academic support as they are in their presentation of evidence.
