This, if true, would mean the moon was showing a different face to the earth over time. It appears they are locked in synchronous rotations (most likely due to unequal core centers locking in at the highest gravitational pull areas). Both are slowing from "drag" and the moons distance from the earth is increasing very slowly due to centrifugal force being slightly higher than gravitational attraction.

What observations indicate the rotations are no longer synchronous?
