As far as I know, the semetic languages came into the area about 1600 BC:

Is the language really as old as 3000 BC?

The hieroglyphics shown in the illustration don't look terribly unusual to me. Can anyone translate them? I see a sign for offering and other signs I recognize but no words that I recognize (however, I only know about 4 words in AE, so this isn't significant.)

Any idea what pyramid they would be referring to?
