This may well be more in the realm of myth than fact BUT it's the only piece of Babylonian engineering I ever heard of;
Their "Wonder of the World", the Babylonian Hanging Gardens, were supposedly irrigated with an ingenious pumping system operated by a foot tread mill raising water up all the stories to splash down the streams, fountains, and waterfalls back to a central reservoir.
Yet some historians say that all the references existent are in western tradition from returning Alexander the Great Army campaigners and there is not one scrap of evidence from Babylon they ever really existed.
