<HTML>Dear All,

I saw a programme last Thursday on BBC2 about the disappearence of the Maya in the 9th or 10th century. I am no academic, but I do love my history and science programmes.

Basically, this guy felt that a great drought had wiped out the Maya. Given that the Maya lived in Troipical climes this seemed most unlikely.

Refreshingly though he knew his theory wouldn't be accepted until he could produce 'Evidence' to back it up. He also fully appreciated his colleagues scepticism regarding his theory, and their reluctance to accept it as main stream, UNTIL he had gathered enough hard evidence.

Their was no great 'Ego' to be seen here and no bitter resentment of scepticism. Just a guy quietly trying to prove his rather 'Radical' idea. and do you know something? now that he appears to have gathered that evidence mainstream archeology has accepted his theory as being valid.

Now who does this not sound like???

Best
