"the mere fact that the limestone blocks do not appear to have any uniform shape, especially in the core but also in the casing, would tend to argue against a casting theory—unless each block had its own wooden mold, and these were not built to any uniform pattern, which in our view would make no sense. Besides which there are too many anomalous shapes on the core blocks which would not be compatible with the use of molds".
