you sure you're posting in the right thread Sam ?
the detail you're talking about is interesting though
Seems more mesopotamian than anything else as it was quite normal to depict the two water buffalo either side of the box containing the kings name

see waterbuffalos weren't even introduced to egypt until the amelkites in about 1200CE
Plenty down south though in the land between the rivers


and that other detail the oft called brontosaurus that are actually serpopards is also mesopotamian

and this image predates the one on the narmer palette by quite a margin
