<HTML>Hello All-
My first post to this board- Seems like a fine forum for intelligent discussion on the subjects at hand. I will say this, why do most of these discussions turn in to "tuesday on the couch with Freud"? They start out with intelligent debate and mutate in to schoolyard semantics. This whole Avry thing makes it seem like I stumbled in to an online soap opera.
This particular subject is very close to myself, as I have witnessed the horrors of genetic experimentation firsthand. Genetically modified crops are now a permanent part of our foods and NO ONE HAS ANY IDEA. I'm not talking about wheat or simple cross breeding of similar species, I'm talking about putting flounder genes in tomatoes so you can freeze them and they stay fresh for long periods of time. The bottom line with this issue is WE HAVE NO IDEA of the consequences on the ecosystem of genetically altering species so drastically mainly because the technology is so new. The dupont issue that Anthony raised is just one example, try the mess the world is in with DDT right now. The scientists that are paid by the companies that make DDT have politicized the malaria situation and claim the only answer is through DDT. However independant studies by the Cancer Research Center have PROVEN without a doubt that DDT causes extremely high rates of infant mortality due to the lowered birth weights of the babies born around the area where DDT is used. I most definiely agree with Kat when I also sincerely apologize to the rest of the world for letting this Bozo get elected president. The consequences are going to be very dangerous to say the least. The only saving grace is the constant communication worldwide with MB's such as this to continue to educate the masses. We need to refine all of our theories to where they can be presented in a scientific forum. It's too bad that GH and RB scared the p*** out of PSU so bad that they wouldn't let this happen.
Pleasure posting with y'all
