<HTML>Hi Anthony,
This seems to be the area of miscommunication for me as well. The science I was taught dealt with the need to test one's hypothesis to determine whether it could become a theory (with validation from evidence as well as replication of any testing if possible). I too find this atmosphere of negativity to the hypothesis formation period strange... if I understood Christopher Dunn's reply to MM the other day, I believe he mentioned the same need for brainstorming in his end of the scientific world. I can easily come up with reasons for "fearing ideas", but that's a whole different topic. Maybe someone will explain the need for such polarized thinking here. Just wanted to chime in to say "You're not alone" in requesting a more lax attitude toward simple discussion/hypothesizing/brainstorming... maybe the other attitude can be saved for when you finally publish how your device works!!! ;-)
