QuoteAnswer: The only data I have or that I know to be available to the public is Petrie's triangulation. That data, as far as I know, is limited to the three main pyramids. It does not include points necessary for the alignment study. I have tried to get information on the availability of the data from the Giza Plateau Mapping Project but without success.

Hi,
I notice you have lines that go near to corners (but not actually on them) with circle drawn to signify it does touch the corner.
I notice you are using a grainy jpeg or bitmap as opposed to a vector image for the topographic map and satellite phote (although the photo is of much better quality). This bmp file can easily be distorted and have such a low definition 1 block could be 5 cub

Yeah. Oh good.
Isis head came off when she let seth go after horus had inprisoned him.
Hence she was given the head/o rcrown with the horns.

Hhhmm. arm of thoth. eye of horus. head of isis. sounds like a witches brew.
Serioulsy. I was looking at the Nebiu wondering why it used the bone harpoon point glyph.
I understand from gardner this glyph is generally used for ivory or carved bone. Was there something about the bones of osiris being metal ??
Birds claw....fish bone...carved bone...arm bone ?

I still think the best examples are boats and ropes.
Raising a sail requires pulling on a rope like a tug o war. (probably elbow to thumb)
Weighing anchor likewise. The ankh shown hanging on the back of egyptian boats still bugs me.
Climbing ropes or rigging normally means thumb to elbow.
Pulling sleds of stone ???
Just thought why a foot would be depicted as a birds foot. They dont take

Yes. You lot are probably right. Too many arguments on variables.
I'll just stick to the written and documented proportion provided from old.
Just wondered if the ancient egyptians used a different cannon of proportion for every ruler when drawing or sculpting.

We are talking fundamentally about bone structure.
So allowing for those that have bone deformities for one reason or other.
Which should still leave a considerable majority.
This is a study. An idea being tested. Not a statement of fact.

using a height of 1753mm....I expected the following based on my proportions....
............................................................
Your expected measures in mm
These are wedge measure between two walls or similar such that the bull of foot, toes, heel, crown, fingers, elbows or thumbs just brush the faces of said walls.
eg. Place elbow and tape square against wall/door on top

But the phoenicians were traders and used everyone elses themes.
Anyway. Does this mean we have a place of origin and capital for them then ?
I find these guys fascinating...

Hi,
sounds like a fun experiment. I'm expecting the dimensions to muddy the water. The main thing is the proportions of the various body parts. So your comment about the upper part proportions being remarkably similar is very comforting.
Once you have all the ratios (ie if the proportions are the same for everyone). All you need is to pick a standard. Usually the king one assumes. But

What do we know of the sea peoples ?
What direct evidence do we have of the sea peoples ?
By sea peoples I meant.
Thats the argument wether the phoenicians around byblos and tyre were local stock or sea peoples.
The only thing we have to go on is 2nd hand words from other cultures. Yet. No historian will say they did not exist.
Now would you find any traces of a sea culture that existe

Hi all,
I am conducting a test on peoples proportions to see if there is any rational relationship between the often quoted ratios. I might have rediscovered how the whole system works and fits together. But I only have my data to go on at the moment.
Any volunteers please add your accurate height in mm "or" your accurate armspan from finget tip to finger tip (they will be differe

I thought the common cubit was elbow to thumb
The royal cubit was elbow to midle finger.
Hence 25 : 28

Astounded...
Thats why I'm tracking down this egyptian 7 hand rod in the museum of New york to get some dates et cetra. Some physical evidence of egyptian measure.
Thats why I want to track the source data of Gardner. To see if the Nebiu is a 1.25 or 1.33' cubit rod. Wether the Nebiu is 7 hands or the Nebiu is something different. If you can say its not 1.333' cubit and not t

Thanks. Been discussing Stecchinis' comments elsewhere.
Basically an egyptian rod of seven hands.
I'd been brow beaten by most people that the egyptians only used fingers, palms and cubits.
Thats why I'm seeing if anyone here has source data. I need to find the origin of Gardners Nebiu data.

I am trying to find out some more info on a statement by Gardner. He gives a listing of his source material attached at the end. Before I wander done the library and have the obligatory 6 week plus waiting list. Does anyone posess such books here. Can anyone give all the information pertaining to this Nebiu from these sources if its not too long winded.
