Did anyone watch the whole show on Atlantis? I only caught a brief glance before my cable went out, and that glance wasn't promising. The host was aboard ship with a group doing undersea searches for Atlantis and was boldly proclaiming that whatever they had just found was "most certainly" the lost city.

Well, hapiru as Hebrew (or not) doesn't enter into his usage.
The paragraph, and pretty much the whole section, has to do with the Hittites and the nature of their army; national versus largely mercenary. Hence "In these two texts (Old Kingdom), which Heinrich Otten dates to the seventeenth or sixteenth century, 'the troops from Hatti and the SA.GAZ troops' appear almost a

No problem, I'm a bit of a tyro myself when it comes to the specifics of this one.
I was wondering about the identification (if it was, or still is, accepted) of the Hebrew with the Hapiru (Hebiru). Recently I'd been going through Robert Drews's Coming of the Greeks and came across this.
"It is becoming clear that in the second millennium a generic term for "mercena

I'll admit I missed your link on the previous post. Comes with the skimming I guess.
As to my suggestion of some fundamental fallacy, I did nothing of the sort, it was just a question. One that could have been answered politely rather than jumping to conclusions and bringing out the claws.
I think I'll stand by the overreaction bit, however.
Thanks, Robert

No need to get testy, little one, just asking a question. Nice to see we're still overreacting to every little thing.

Wouldn't a more proper starting place be evidence that the Hebrews were in Egypt at this time at all?

"The senator has introduced a two-word amendment that would let federally recognized tribes demand the return of remains, even if they can't prove a link to a modern tribe."
Seems that the senator's proposed amendment to NAGPRA would give the tribes a say in the disposition of ancient human remains. It looks like the issue revolves around the key word, ancestor. Is Kennewi

This kind of response to the racial make-up, ethnicity, or skin color (never quite sure how to couch that) of the Egyptians has always puzzled me.
Why must Tut have been black for him to be part of an African-American's heritage? This hypothetical black American traces his ancestry to Africa, Tut was king of a country in Africa. Isn't that enough? The extreme nature of Mr. Clegg'

Funny, and here I thought the sacrifice of our soldiers' lives in Iraq had something to do with security or some nasty weapons. Strange how motives seem to change.
While I certainly do not want to belittle this tribute or the sacrifices made by soldiers everywhere, I find it insulting to in any way compare or place in parallel WWI, WWII and the last war in Iraq, and humbly submit that thi
