I have an old book written by one of the first settlers in my area. Actually it is a collection of articles that he wrote as editor of the local weekly paper. I intend to digitize it and put it on Project Gutenberg.
The above video reminds me of one of the stories. The city of Goff, Kansas was first settled by a London investment club. They sent a small group in the spring to build housing

Of course they might move south!

Over the last 4 years James Adovasio has overseen a re excavation at Vero Beach. Apparently he concludes that there was human activity 13,000 to 14,000 years ago.
There is a deeper soil layer that dates to about 19,000 years old where they hope to find some evidence of human activity.
Talked to Mike Waters a few days ago and he said that findings have been disappointing (so far).

Can it spread to humans? The answer is probably. "Zabel pointed out that scientist have only known about CWD for 50 years, “which leads us to believe it’s only a matter of time before a prion emerges that can spread to humans.”
Prions are very hard to eliminate. That captive deer herd at Fort Collins where CWD was first observed was culled and the whole area 'disinfected'.

The article states "Dozens of species of North American mammals went extinct by the end of the Pleistocene, including American camels, American horses, woolly mammoth, dire wolves, short-faced bears, saber-toothed cats, woolly rhinos and giant ground sloths."
Woolly rhinos never made it across Beringia into the Americas.

Not sure if Denmark was named as a country at that time. Remember that eastern England was previously called the Danelaw.
Have no idea where the name Onteora comes from.
Apparently the Welsh had many ‘Goddesses’
Altomara was apparently a Native American. How she ended up in the court of King of the North is a mystery. Don Ruh speculates that she may have been kidnapped. “Her fa

"King of the North" apparently refers to the King of Denmark.
"After studying the Danish and Swedish royalty, I have determined that the King and Queen in 1178 - when Ralph de Sudeley and his retinue visited the court of the Queen of the North (Denmark) - was ruled by Valdemar (Walderne) the Great who was born in 1131 and ruled with his Queen Sophia of Minsk in 1178 when they v

The Cremona Document was purchased in 1971 by Dr. William Jackson from a Mr. Benvenuto in Italy for 12000 Lire, about US $675 at that time.

One of my favorite books is The Rivers Ran East
Leonard Clark financed a very low budget search for the Seven Cities of Cibola back in 1947. Starting from Peru he made his way down river and did find several of the 7 'cities'. He managed to pack about 50 pounds of gold back up river to civilization.
This deserves a Hollywood movie.

You left out the sighthounds. Greyhounds were not bred to chase a 'hare' around a racetrack. They excel in speed and the ability to take down prey. Actually the same characteristics have been developed in several countries. Out in open country a coyote stands little chance unless it has a substantial head start.
However there is little chance of greyhounds going feral. They lack an

In the US, long gone are the days when you pulled up to the gas pump and a bell rang signaling the attendant. He came rushing out and asked if he could 'fullerup' with 20 cent per gallon gasoline. Also asked if he could check the oil and tires and he automatically washed the windshield. In addition they were probably giving away drinking glasses, free car washes, or similar useful items

Have to wonder about " Native Americans may not like hearing that 10,000-year-old Native American skeletons whose repatriation and reburial they seek have no demonstrable connection to tribes living in the same geographic area today. "

I agree on Tora, Tora, Tora.
Another blockbuster that totally mutilated the true story was The Revenant. Leonardo DiCaprio did an excellent job of portraying Hugh Glass but the whole plot of his son being killed is total fiction. Glass was mauled by a grizzly and eventually left for dead by John Fitzgerald and a teenage Jim Bridger.
A better film on Hugh Glass's ordeal was Man in the

A couple of times films got it mostly right:
1) Lonesome Dove is a fictional historical novel based loosely on the experiences of Charles Goodnight and Oliver Loving
2) The Outlaw Josey Wales did an excellent job of portraying the brutality of the Kansas/Misouri border war preceding the Civil War. Although based on a fictional novel, almost everything shown in the movie actually happene
