Re: Heiroglyphs and alchemical/astrological signs - 20 years ago

In our search for the origins of Alchemy this is what I've found so far... One of the earliest texts that I could find is Hermes Trimegestus on "The Emerald Tablet" supposedly the earliest surviving one is 800AD. I can't determine whether this date is valid or not. Now we kind of drift off into the oh so hazy area linguistics. "Alchemistry" probably derived

Re: Lead to Gold - 20 years ago

Interesting. One can play around with this. 1) no way alchemy could do it because chemical reactions do not change elements into another.2) you need to start with a stable isotope of Mercury, lead, etc and end up with a stable isotope of gold. 3) you need to make your starting material unstable could add a neutron. 4) you can decay either by alpha particle (2 at. no, 4 at wt) or beta particle (-1

A possible irony is that they could/should have known seeing as how the idea of atomic structure goes back at least as far as Plato. Yes indeed Lucretius captured at least one school of the atomists (the Epicureans)in his treatise on "The Nature of the Universe." It's brilliant. Unfortunately we got saddled with Plato and his rambling, incoherent so-called "dialogues&qu

Hi Principia Although I see alchemy as ritualistic and spiritual study, I agree there is a constant exhortation to God and Jesus in many of the texts. But there were definitely many different approaches to alchemy. The alchemists knew that they had charlatans in their own midsts and those clowns are the ones that we associate with the field to this day and have continued to poison any stu

I'd think that those came along with the incomplete understanding of the language as well as the basic idea getting foggier with the time. The ideas were getting definitely foggier from what I can see. Or alternate explanation we simply don't understand what they were refering too. HOWEVER one thing that is abundantly clear is that these guys were fooling around with extremely toxi

I wasn't commenting on the validity of alchemy itself... only on the origin of the supposed "link" to ancient Egypt. In a nutshell... there is none. I'm sure, that for somebody as logical as you are, that you'll understand that since this an assertion without a foundation that I'll have to take it with a grain of salt. BTW I have no idea whether there is or isn&#

Re: Heiroglyphs and alchemical/astrological signs - 20 years ago

Apart from the alchemy link, I'd think that the hieroglyphs (or neoglyphs) are appealing because of their very nature. Due to their AE origin and meaning (basically being the language of gods), they have a sacred and hidden connotation to them. They rather imply some hidden knowledge, or opening to something Exactly! I don't know if the meaning is necessairly "hidden" any m

On the "other web site" therer is a somewhat different etymology of the word Alchemy.... However in it's latest incarnation it became a nickname ("Al Chemical" only this is definitely 21'st century meaning "The Chemical") for I believe Saddam Hussein's brother in law who gassed the Kurds and dumped the Alchemists best known chemical "sulfur

Heiroglyphs and alchemical/astrological signs - 20 years ago

Hi All I posted this at the "other web" site too While surfing the web I've noticed that a lot (well a number of them) of the heiroglyphs have shown up absolutely unchanged from their Egyptian form into alchemistry and astrology signs. Some glyphs have been modified and combined making glyphs that don't exist in the formal egyptian canon (AFAIK at least) and are what I call

Pardon my ignorance, but what IS a Seth Animal? Seth what the egyptian god of Chaos is who murdered his brother Osiris usually portrayed as an unidentified animal. Here's about the best statue I could find of him. Chinese seismograph: I thought we had that? The original was built and as far as I can tell eventually fell apart and was lost.

In addition to that I believe Aldred also points out that Akhs. daughter's usurped Neferititi's "Sunshades" for themselves. Something that would not have been possible if Nefertiti were still alive. The putative coregencies crumble as hard facts continue to hammer away at them...

Unfortunately there isn't any historical record at all from that time period. The closest thing we have is the PT's which show no interest in phi at all. Barring that we have to look and see if there's a chance that they incorporated phi in their building structures. Something that Don is doing in a very systematic way. Lo, none is allowed to take his goods with him, Lo, none who departs comes back again! (Khurt 172) This strikes me that the physical goods must stay in the physical world. The second line strikes me as the inevitability of death; No one has physically returned from the grave. If this is correct then most of the AE cosmology stays intact. I read the whole article at my Dentists office and it was a big so-what. Just a tmeple might be located here, and a tomb might be located over there, and over yonder there's a mountain that points in the general direction of Egypt and so forth and so on, but first we gotta dig through this 11 bazillion tons of sand and it might take another 20 years to do that.
