Re: 28 - 17 years ago
Hello lobo
So it’s just a coincidence that the cubit was divided by 28?
Do you know why some cubits were divided by 27?

Could there be a specific reason the AE decided to divide the cubit by 28 digits?
There were other cubit lengths divided by 27 digits! So why did they settle on 28?
If you divide 1 by 27, 28 or 29 then the division of 1/28 times 4 is the closest match to .1415927
1/27 = .0370370 and this times 4 = .1481481
1/28 = .0357142 and this times 4 = .1428571
1/29 = .0344827 and this times 4 = .1

But on the serious side, maybe they were used to collect over night water from dew or rainfall ?

I agree with the cobra part and not positive but I believe that blob on the front is the looping curve of a lions tail much like the ones seen on funerary beds!

The problem with using a computer program is it’s hard to tell when a star becomes visible in that twilight area. When seeing with our eyes and including atmospheric conditions that gray area may be different!

That is a very detailed study of the differences between Petrie and Gantenbrink along with pointing out some errors made by Gantenbrink. Thanks for that! I had not seen it.
I do not doubt that Gantenbrink made errors with his CAD drawings. The thing I was pointing out is that Gantenbrink has the QC north shaft at 43.64 degrees in his CAD drawings and that is a fact. I think t

It’s not my fault if the CAD drawings don’t match what is being reported.
But you can print this picture and place a protractor or use a CAD program on the QC north shaft and see for yourself if you like. I made it a negative image for you to print out.

Perhaps you are misreading Gantenbrink on the QC north angle or perhaps he made a mistake writing about the angle but I assure you that from his CAD drawings the over all angle is about 43.64 degrees for the QC north shaft.
There is also the possibility you are talking about the east west angle where it curves to miss the GG but for the north south angle it is about 43.64 = 43º 38’ 24” degrees

Gantenbrink's measurements from his cyber drawings:
KCN 32°36'8.2" = 32.6023 degrees
KCS 45°00'00"
QCN 43°38'24" = 43.64 degrees over all!
QCS 39°36'28" = 39.6078 degree

I think you mean the KC shafts not the QC shafts?
For whole digits/cubits measure it would be.
KC south = 45 degrees. That is 1 rise to 1 horizontal.
KC north = 32.6023 degrees that is close to 7 rise to 11 horizontal.
11 horizontal to 7 rise = 32.471 degrees.
22 horizontal to 14 rise = 32.471 degrees.
25 horizontal to 16 rise = 32.619 degrees. Best match!!!

That would be 39.472 degrees.
The QC north is about 43.64 and the south is about 39.6078 degrees.
So both shafts can not be lumped into one angle.

Hello Graham,
I enjoy discussing ideas about the GP and it’s design. I did some checking with my Redshift program and by no means am I an expert! It looks to me like there is a problem with aligning the KC north shaft to Thuban. I’ll try to explain the best I can.
The KC north shaft is above 30 degrees the NCP in essence that means that to point at Thuban then Thuban would need to be betwee

Hello Dave L
The grid is 11 cubits wide by 7 cubits tall and each cubit is 20.655 inches.
So I have this at about 32 times 7 cubits = 224 times 20.655 so its about 4626.72 inches tall and 32 times 11 cubits = 352 times 20.655 so its about 7270.56 inches wide.
But that is just an approximation! Something that gets close to matching the QC air-shafts.

Some angles in the grid system are repeats so I created a quick find chart to go along with the grid system.
Please feel free to save and use these charts if you wish.
Please let me know if any mistakes are detected with the angles so I can correct them.
