Statements in Chatters’ book (pp.77-78) do not match his statements submitted to the court. Also, Chatters’ statements differ from the coroners (Nickens 1998, Downey 2002, Benedict 2003). DOI 02764 (page 10) If there is something to reasonably doubt, what is it?by Lee Olsen - Ancient History
I agree with your point(s) from the perspective of the unknown present, when the truth is not yet proven. That is why they are not admissible in most courts. In the case of the missing femurs, all the other suspects have been eliminated for one reason or another since that time, except the person refusing to take the test. What does that tell you in this particular case? I’ve never seen a studyby Lee Olsen - Ancient History

Joanne, You bet, but I think it boils down to your second statement (“and would rather be first than be correct”) being closer to the truth in both cases rather than mostly ignorance on the part of the media being the cause. I guess my point was that _both_ the media and credible scientists, not just the nuts, are guilty stretching the truth. Either way, the general public takes a bath. Leeby Lee Olsen - Ancient History
Hi Pete, What then is worse, a single “nut” being quoted by the media or numerous anthropologists telling half the truth? For example, James Chatters made this statement on page 83 of his book Ancient Encounters: “What about the cast and the DNA analysis that had been done at UC Davis? Should we tell the Corps? No, we decided. After the bullying treatment we’d just received, we would be coopby Lee Olsen - Ancient History

OK...... “The distinctive “Fish-tail” points so prevalent in South America appears to represent the culmination of morphological changes in fluted point outline that began in central and south-eastern North America (Morrow and Morrow 1999).” The radiocarbon dates (fig 21) in Morrow and Morrow do show a weak fluted-cline running from North America to southern South America as your post implieby Lee Olsen - Ancient History
