Nice picture. Reminds of those old porcellan ones with a lighter inside of them. Can't help but feel these belong to that group. Regards Don Baroneby Ahatmose - Ancient History
Hi all ... For the art lovers in the crowd I would point you to the latest version of my ongoing plan to list all of Nicolas Poussin's paintings on a website. I have been collecting images of his paintings since I first linked up in 1999 and just recently found a site to round out my collection. I am still missing several and if any of you out there have a copy of an image I may have misby Ahatmose - Ancient History

Hi all ... Sorry for boring you Simon. For the rest of you thanks for playing along and here is the entire image. It is an erratic bolder. I wonder if we checked it out would it be looking up at Sirius, The DOG STAR ? This perched erratic occurs south of Noel Paul's Brook, central Newfoundland Cheers Don Baroneby Ahatmose - Ancient History
Hi Ian ... That's what I saw. And Anthony why do you always expect something for offering up an opinion or helping out ? Cheers DBby Ahatmose - Ancient History
Hi all ... Just wondering what you folks thought this might look like. After a few of you play along I will post the entire image. Cheers Don Baroneby Ahatmose - Ancient History
Hi all ... Someone has already helped me out. Seems if you don't ask questions and just help another out the job gets done very quickly. Putting conditions on helping someone out is not very charitable at all now is it. Oh well ... moving on. *LOL* You're a riot John. Cheers Don Baroneby Ahatmose - Ancient History
Er ... John, we (or at least I was in my post) are talking about "squaring the cirlce" here. That is to draw a square that has as it's perimeter the same EXACT distance as the circumference of a previously drawn cirlce using only straightedge, marker and compass. What are you talking about ? Don Baroneby Ahatmose - Ancient History
Hi Anthony ... One of the things I have long believed was that The Ancients were able to "square the circle". I had spent untold hours with ruler, compass and straightedge trying to duplicate the feat. After looking at the image posted below I believed I saw something I had missed previously in my attempts. Here is the image. I believe that using this diagram as a starting poby Ahatmose - Ancient History

Hi Goaten ... Yes I have studied quite a few of them but this one is beautiful in its simplicty. Also (unrelated to the above) I found by playing around that the square root of 3 times the square root of 2 = 1/2 the square root of 24. No significance yet but I just found it interesting. 1.73205080756887729352744634150587 x 1.4142135623730950488016887242097 = 2.449489742783178098197284074705by Ahatmose - Ancient History

Hi all ... Just studying The Megalithic Yard and found this page. Interesting that in a particular arrangement where: "2. A circumference of 1760 MY..... .....Has an SS of 440 ft., 3 ´ SS = 1/4 MILE. .....Has an LS of 880 ft., 6 ´ LS = 1 MILE 3.
