In a discussion on the use of mirrored half faces, my esteemed opponent has made the following statement ...the idea of mirroring “half-faces” is acceptable in the archaeological community... This is in the context of showing what they believe to be a half face from a satellite picture of a land mass, mirroring it and then saying its proof of Mesoamerican influence as the resulting face isby Hans - Ancient History
Hello all at Maat At another site a question has been raised about a "salt encrustation on the pyramids at a height of 14 feet" Does anyone have any information on this? Is this an imaginary line or does it actually exist? I've been to the pyramids many times and don't recall this. Is this a fragment of alterndoxy or a part of orthodoxy I've missed?by Hans - Ancient History
Very helpful Jon_B, thanksby Hans - Ancient History
Hello all I was wondering if anyone knew of a site or book that lists all mentions of the Pyramids in ancient writings?by Hans - Ancient History

Katherine and Marduk Thank you for a nearly perfect example of a fringe believer discussing a subject with mainstream scientist(s)/knowledgeable people. LOL Excellent refutations of Marduks theories, especially the use of common sense. (why go to SA when you can get tin from Afghanistan - plus how LONG would a reed boat take to get to SA? Not even Heyerdahl would have tried that one)by Hans - Ancient History
Fringe archaeology is best served up cold and raw You will find this tidbit at this site A "study" will be found here A teaser from the study "The secret object - the Ben-Ben-was enshrined in the Het Benben, the 'Temple of the Benben..' Thanks for the information and link - very interesting. YOu should visit some of the Sitchin sites - they would just love you!by Hans - Ancient History
Thanks for the valuable information. May I ask for a bit more information about your statement concerning Enlil being Enki's father - could you be so kind as to explain where that comes from (tablet?) And is that tablet at the link you furnished?by Hans - Ancient History
As I suspected! When scholars discuss the various tablets do they refer to these numbers or do they have names "Farooq's XXXX" ? Roughly how many tablets have been recovered, read and catalogued?by Hans - Ancient History
How is the world wide collection of tablets organized - do they each have a unique number or are they divided up by unique numbers in different collections?by Hans - Ancient History
I suspect it would be in Europe, a French, German or perhaps British University?by Hans - Ancient History

Question I recently read Carl Ortwin Sauers' The Early Spanish Main, 1966 On page 64 was an odd mention of the following: "There is evidence also of an earlier presence of people of advanced culture that differed from that of the Arawaks. The first such indication is the elaborate irrigation works that were seen in and about the region of Xaragua in arid south-western Espanola.by Hans - Ancient History
Hi Bernard I agree with what you wrote but I seem to remember one alleged Roman statuette from Mexico being run thru the guantlet for acceptance. What was the final opinion on that item, fake, fraud, unknown or real? Hansby Hans - Ancient History
Do any of the readers here have a source that mentions the finding of a bronze wire cable 15 feet (5 meters) long at Pompei?by Hans - Laboratory
A fringe author seems to be claiming this Aztec sculpture represents a lion. Is their any orthodox discussion of this art piece? From the bottom of the site linked above Like the Olmec and many other Mesoamerican cultures, the Egyptians also wore false beards, as can be seen in the death mask of Tutankhamun. It is thought that the Egyptians used the false beards to mimic these same Seby Hans - Ancient History

Thanks those links are most helpful - and yes I think the Hokey pokey IS the meaning of life - if it's said backwards while juggling canned goods.by Hans - Ancient History
Thanks The key word was strenghts - I wasn't looking for that. I was looking this up to in response to a fringe statement that a thousand ton stone would crush any attempt to place it on a wooden sled. I think that answers the questionby Hans - Ancient History
I have a question for you that I cannot seem to find an answer for. Maximum compressibility of wood The question is this, if you had a thousand ton weigh (stone lets say) and lowered it slowly onto a block of wood - a two by four say, would the wooden block be crushed flat or would it compress to a certain point and then stop - ie keeping the 1000 ton weight above the floor?
