Watson Brake is an odd bird to be sure ....... like a lot of very early platform mound sites it was build up over many generations ... but the excavators there believe the people maintained a hunter / gatherer lifestyle and did not live on the site but rather that people gathered together at certain times to work on the site ...... Aspero is earlier and has all the same "signs" of civilization that Caral shows, the difference is mainly that Caral is larger, besides Caral and Aspero there are 15 other sites in the Supe Valley ... some of them may yet be shown to predate Caral and Aspero. Nanchoc has two flat topped mounds ....... the western one has been used as a cemetery in modern times so there hasn't been a lot of archaeology done on it for obvious reasons. The excavators at Nanchoc whose papers I've read (Dillehay and Netherly) did do test pits (and were also allowed to watch and examine as new graves were dug) and determined that the western mound had the same hiby Katherine Reece - Ancient History
