I interpret your statement as meaning: at 2 days in the future from the present day; it will be another 2 days until the next 2 days in the future have passed. That appears to be True if you mean a total of 4 days in the future from the present day for the final value.
And also it could mean as marduk interprets it; that 2 days in the future from the present day represents the same thing as anot

Interesting and I am wondering what the Gaia hypothosis proports to be the source that utlilizes the feedback that the earth uses to maintain its ebb & flow toward a harmony that sustains life.If not a universal consciousness(intent) then I suppose it can only be the random chance of chemical reactions. lol

Hmmmm, I am also wondering why the different star programs being used are producing such a difference in time-lines for Thuban's nearest proximity to the Celestial North Pole in Ancient Egypt. The program I am using utilizes the Equatorial-J2000 data to make the positional calculations. This program also uses an algorithm based on the J2000 data to arrive at R.A. & Declinations

Obtained a value for Thuban of 89d 54m in year 2799BC, which places Thuban just 6-mins shy of being located exactly at Celestial North Pole in relation to the Earth. Used StarryNight Pro 3.

The surviving Celestial Diagrams from Egypt are as I understand it, horoscopes for the heliacal rising of spdt, “Sirius”. All these diagrams and those for the Goddess Nut were in fact copies of the original horoscope for the inauguration of the Sothic Cycle, or Cycle of Eternity. The legend, “... The happenings in the 1st month of Akhet, at the going up of spdt... “ given in the middle of the ch

Interesting to read a few of Petrie's quotes about his personal experience of living in Egypt in the late 19th century during his stay at Giza. Sounds very familiar!
Tranquility & peace! Sounds like Herodotus's experience of the Egyptians when he visited in 500 BC.
Look forward to reading more of Petrie's autobiography when you post it .

Here's some information on the theory about the proposed mars sized object that may have collided with the earth to form our moon back in the early days of the earth's formation.

Hans: 'What is the present (modern) altitude/height of the Giza pyramids above sea level?'
I am also interested in learning what the altitude above sea level is for plateau that the gizamids are built upon. Need this information for a star program which will provide more accuracy for the calculations it makes.

Ok, I think I understand better now. Its the close proximity that Venus & Mercury have with the Sun in their movements. They both either led the Sun in its rebirth or follow the Sun in the West after it sets when they are visible to us here on the earth. Yea, that makes more sense then my first idea did.

Joanne:
I see what you are saying, since the Sun(Re) regularly vanishes from sight, the ancients in their mythology attributed the periodic disappearance of the other stars on the ecliptic with a protective role of the Sun during its passage through the Dwat.
I have question, since we originally talked about the planets in particular!
Was Sirius which also vanishes from sight periodically

Ok thanks! So all of the observable planets were referenced by the Egyptians in their time.
Noticed in these posts that the two inner planets (mercury & venus) have no reference to Horus.
Can you suggest why the Egyptians titled the outer planets (saturn, jupiter & mars) Horus while both the inner planets were not?
Spectulation is ok, as I realize the ancient Egyptians didn

Took a look at the article Kat posted above and noticed that they had made a note which shows that there are other qualified opinions concerning the range of the musical scale that ancient Egyptians may have utilized.
'Ancient Egyptian music was based on a minor pentatonic scale of five full tones without halftones. This fact can be inferred from the positions of the holes on flutes'

Hello Clive,
I am not an Egyptologist but love math & trig, so I tryed to workout a solution to your posed problem of determining the perimeter of the sides of the triangle above the base of Khafre's pyramid.
I came up with 1095.5 Rc for this perimeter.
Am I close?

Hello donald!
My personal take on the Akenaten portrayals is the that hermaphroditic body and elongated skulls of Akenaten and his family members were a symbolic representation of his rule. It was an unusual period in Egyptian history and perhaps Akenaten & his family including Tutankhiman's early images were meant to convey the self-created aspect as was expressed through Tum and Mi

I know that the Sun, Moon and Sirius are recognized as having been utilized by the ancients but would like to know if any other stars are known about in relation to the timing of their festiva
