Hi Hermione I was going to let it go but i have to comment on this statement from the article.

From before the beginning of these theories, other historians and mathematicians have proposed alternative theories for the pyramid designs that are not related to any use of the golden ratio, and are instead based on purely rational slopes that only approximate the golden ratio. The Egyptians of those times apparently did not know the Pythagorean theorem; the only right triangle whose proportions they knew was the 3:4:5 triangle.

This is so terribly wrong and can not go unanswered. In the heart of The Great Pyramid are two chambers which are in a 1 by 2 configuration. The diagonal is the sq rt of 5 and comes about from dividing the angle of this 3 by 4 by 5 right angled triangle in half. (from 53.13 to 26.565). When one does this the ratio becomes 3 for the run ( base) and 1.5 ( up 1.5 of the height of 4) for the rise It is inconceivable that someone could know one and not the other ... by simply adding one to the diagonal of this 1 by 2 right angled triangle's slope and then simply dividing by two one has created Phi. It is to put it mildly child's play and to claim that the architects of these pyramids did not know this is simply criminal as well as dead wrong..
