Hi all. Just finished watching a video on YouTube where the reality of dinosaurs is questioned.

Got me to thinking and then noticed again that the half life of Carbon 14 is 5730 years.

Just curious how that was determined WITHOUT MAKING ASSUMPTIONS ?

Went to Google and could not find a solution without assumptions being incorporated into the equation. For example how can they possibly know precisely what the carbon content was of the animals or plant when it died, It has to be assumed and assumed that it has always been constant ... doesn't it ?
