I previously noted that the dimensions of the Great Pyramid anticipate the overall site plan with the key being 44/7 or the circumference to radius circle ratio. Lets take a look then at what the pi formula might reveal at Dahshur. If indeed this ratio was a significant design factor at Giza then we might expect a similar approach to reveal something of interest at Dahshur.

The Red Pyramid appears to conform to a Pythagorean 20-21-29 right angle triangle, with a semi-base of 210 royal cubits, a height of 200 rc and an apothem of 290 rc. The perimeter of this triangle is therefore 700 royal cubits and taken as the radius of a circle the circumference will be 4400 rc (using 22/7 for pi) which gives us a direct reference to the 44/7 ratio, scaled by a factor of 100.

Now turning to the Bent Pyramid (using Legon's interpretation based upon Dorner's survey as our reference - found at [www.legon.demon.co.uk]) we do not have a true pyramid or right angle triangle to deal with. Instead we find two apothems; an upper apothem of length 160.9495 rc and a lower apothem of length 110.1225 rc. A rectangle with side lengths equal to these apothem lengths will have an area 160.9495 x 110.1225 = 17724.16496. The square root of pi equals 1.77245. The base of the Bent Pyramid is 362 rc and the height is 200 rc. A slightly different methodology is involved here but striking all the same I feel: 1000 x phi squared or 2618/(22/7) = 833 or 362+200+161+110 - the key dimensions of the Bent Pyramid.
