Thanks, Byrd. Very good point: what was really happening in Egypt at the relevant time.

Of course, the question is really about mediaeval Irish attempts designed - by claiming links with a mysterious, exotic and distant civilisation - to put Irish culture and civilisation on a similar footing.

Like ancient Rome claiming descent from the survivors of ancient Troy ... And mediaeval Britain claiming that the first British king, Brutus, was similarly descended from the survivors of ancient Troy and Rome .... etc. etc. etc.
