Actually this queen named Neith (or Nearit) is a wife of king Teti, the founder of the 6th dyn. The article in the OP is conflating two different things; the discovery of the pyramid tomb in 2008 and the identification of it's owner in 2021.
Back in 2008 Hawass claimed to have found the tomb of queen Sesheshet, Teti's mother. Teti's mother however was never a queen since she was never married to a king, her son Teti married a daughter of the previous king Unas and took the throne. But it was a possibility that this pyramid belonged to the king's mother, equally possible however was that this pyramid belonged to a wife of Teti (he had several wives and several of their tombs still await discovery in the area).
Excavations were abandoned until 2021 when the funerary temple of the pyramid was excavated, again by Hawass. An inscription was found naming the owner; queen Neith (or Nearit), a previously unknown wife of Teti.
