Haven't really read up on that, but will do so a bit later. You've asked some interesting questions that are quite worthy of exploration. He's an interesting figure and it's not quite clear (as I understand it) if he usurped the throne or not.

I do love Tarhaqa's sphinx- one of my favorite pieces from that era (or any era) - but I think as others have said that the question needs to be asked from the proper timeline: "what impact did all of this have on the Ptolemaic dynasty?" (or perhaps other dynasties.)
