Merlin used his own tools and equipment to remove the stones, and then arranged for their transport and re-erection on Salisbury Plain.
The thing is, though, that the stones were originally brought to Ireland from Africa by the giants who settled Ireland (the Fomorians? [
en.wikipedia.org].) So, if the Fomorians had supernatural powers, might THEY have magically flown the stones over from Africa ... ? (And where in Africa? North Africa ... ?)
