It's my interpretation - just as the orientation to Sirius is your interpretation. The difference is that mine does align with the processional causeway; the one that they would have used when bringing sacred materials to the shrine from the Nile and elsewhere. It also points to the area where you can see Polaris (known to the Greeks as Set-Typhon (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pole_star)) being "chained" by Taweret-Hathor-Isis.
And the whole temple area is dedicated to Hathor. You don't dedicate a temple to a deity and then NOT mention them everywhere in the temple.

It's the region of the Undying Stars (the ones that one of the shafts in the Great Pyramid apparently points toward). They're ALWAYS aligned with that causeway.
