Do you have a reference for an obelisk covered in hide, as that would seem to be defeating the object of them "shining". I also think Budge is off the mark by thinking that the deceased would be placed in an animal hide, even that of the Mnevis of Apis bull, as I think this would be anathema to them. There is no sign of this in the mummification process, and those not able to afford mummification were wrapped in reed matting.
